HAPPY HALLOWEEN
at Recreation and Parks

Festivities will take place at facilities citywide

A plethora of safe and enjoyable Halloween 2005 activities, many at no cost to revelers, will be offered at City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks facilities.

Choices will include haunted houses, carnivals, arts and crafts, games, giveaways of candy and other treats, and more, with scores of parks, recreation centers, and other facilities all joining in on the fun. Where fees are involved, the amounts will generally be minimal.

There will be both day and evening events over a 10-day period that begins on Saturday, October 22, and culminates on Monday, October 31, when most programs will be held. Numerous facilities will also have festivities on the weekend leading up to Halloween.

Some activities are for specific age groups, whether younger children (those age 12 or younger), teenagers, or senior citizens. Most are appropriate for all ages, and will include such things as costume and other contests (with prizes), moon bounces, food, and more.

Residents are encouraged to check with their local park or recreation center to find out what events are taking place.

A list of Halloween events is available on the Department's website, www.laparks.org/pdf/halloweenevents.pdf. Angelinos can also call the Recreation and Parks toll-free information line, 1-888-LA-PARKS (527-2757), for help finding an event in their neighborhood.
