"Swamp opera" to preview during August Concert Series

LOS ANGELES - Black Tongued Bells will appear at Pershing Square on Tuesday, August 16 from noon to 2:00 p.m. as part of the annual free summer concert series at this popular downtown outdoor venue to perform its unique brand of country music and Zydeco blues in a special preview of their soon-to-be staged production in the Hollywood theatre district.

Also on the slate is the August 2 Tribute Tuesday show, which will have Led Zepagain playing the music of the 1960s and 1970s rock and roll giants Led Zeppelin from noon to 2:00 p.m. Omo Olfi will turn up the heat with its style of salsa rumba on Salsa Sunday, which is the third Sunday (August 21) from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with plenty of room for dancing, too.

The Summer Youth Concert will feature Teen Grooves, Hip Hop Harry, and an amazing presentation by Mestre Boneco Capoeira Brasil (which combines martial arts and dance set to music) on Tuesday, August 23. This kids-oriented event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with inflatable rides, games, and more also being part of the festivities.

Other August shows will include: Red Hill (jazz), Soul Dogs (blues), Bandshe (dance), Twig Face (1980's pop), La Chicana (Latin rock), and California Jammin' (radio hits). These concerts are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 2:00 p.m.
