WHAT: The 35th annual City of Los Angeles Senior Women's
Golf Championship & Handicap Tournament, sponsored by the Department of Recreation and Parks and played on a Department course located in West Los Angeles. The 36-hole competition is conducted by the Los Angeles Municipal Golf Association. Nearly 50 players who are age 50 or older will be seeking the title held by An Marie Ekfeldt.

TO GET TO RANCHO PARK GOLF COURSE: From the 405 (San Diego) Freeway exit at Santa Monica Blvd. Take Santa Monica Blvd. east/northeast about ½-mile to Westwood Blvd. Take Westwood Blvd. south/southeast about ¾-mile to Pico Blvd. Take Pico Blvd. east/northeast about one mile to the course entrance. "Swamp opera" to preview during August Concert Series
LOS ANGELES - Black Tongued Bells will appear at Pershing Square on Tuesday, August 16 from noon to 2:00 p.m. as part of the annual free summer concert series at this popular downtown outdoor venue to perform its unique brand of country music and Zydeco blues in a special preview of their soon-to-be staged production in the Hollywood theatre district.
Also on the slate is the August 2 Tribute Tuesday show, which will have Led Zepagain playing the music of the 1960s and 1970s rock and roll giants Led Zeppelin from noon to 2:00 p.m. Omo Olfi will turn up the heat with its style of salsa rumba on Salsa Sunday, which is the third Sunday (August 21) from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with plenty of room for dancing, too.
The Summer Youth Concert will feature Teen Grooves, Hip Hop Harry, and an amazing presentation by Mestre Boneco Capoeira Brasil (which combines martial arts and dance set to music) on Tuesday, August 23. This kids-oriented event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with inflatable rides, games, and more also being part of the festivities.
Other August shows will include: Red Hill (jazz), Soul Dogs (blues), Bandshe (dance), Twig Face (1980's pop), La Chicana (Latin rock), and California Jammin' (radio hits). These concerts are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 2:00 p.m.
Pershing Square is located at 532 S. Olive St., between 5th and 6th streets, with plenty of shaded eating areas. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the venue, but guests are also welcome to bring their own and come as a group.
